Friedrich Ludwig Dülon
Dazzling Sounds in the Darkness
800px-Friedrich_ludwig_dulon.jpg

'What can pure sound achieve?' - ensemble freymut wonders in its homage to the great flutists of the 18th century. Following the musical genius's footsteps, the four musicians explore the world of Dülon. This imaginary musical journey extends not only along his musical repertoire and biography, but ensemble freymut also traces the aesthetic influences of the century's flutist, who may have even inspired Mozart to create the character of Tamino.
To make the extraordinary perceptual curve of Dülon - his nearly complete blindness and the highly sensitive abilities of his other senses - tangible for the audience, visitors receive an eye mask. The listening experience now unfolds according to the individual decisions of the audience. What images arise in the darkness when we surrender to pure sound? Which other senses come to the forefront? How can we achieve a balance between the senses, and how can this experience enrich our future listening experiences?

(Premiere in October 2023 in Bad Tatzmannsdorf)
